Today, Nokia has added the Nokia 500 to its lineup of smartphones. The new phone boasts of being the first Symbian device to have a 1 GHz CPU under the hood. It will run on the latest iteration of Symbian, Anna. Apart from fresh looks and better performance, Nokia is also promising that the latest entrant will be pocket friendly.

The phone features a 3.2" capacitive screen with pixel dimensions of 640x360. Photography will be taken care of by a 5 megapixel camera. Apart from that, the phone will have Wi-Fi, a 3.5 mm jack, and a charging-enabled microUSB port. The onboard storage will be 2 GB, while a microSD port will additionally accept up to 32 GB of memory. The phone measures 111.3 mm (l) x 53.8 mm (w) x 14.1 mm (d) and weighs in at 93 grammes. Moreover, the device will have swappable back panels, much like the N79.

On the software front, Anna offers a refreshed UI, revamped browser, and split-screen messaging. It will also feature free voice-guided satellite navigation with the latest version of Nokia Maps. According to Nokia, despite the 1 GHz CPU, the phone will have great battery life. Reportedly, the battery will last for 450+ hours on standby mode or up to 35 hours of music playback.

The Nokia 500 will come in black and white varieties, with back covers available in purple, azure blue, pink, coral red, orange, and dark silver. The gadget is expected to cost 150 euros (approx Rs 9450) and will be available in the third quarter of this year.
