How can they show both league matches on sony kix. They are just spoiling football game. What will happen during ipl and other sporting events. Clash will definitely happen. It would have been better if star network could hold the rights further as they have 4 SD and 4 HD channels to show every football matches live in HD as well.
So hopefully all the naysayers won't doubt as the press release has come officially.

It's a 3 year deal.
Guys, please note that there is no money made by the broadcaster from football in India. The rights fees paid by them have been increased by Star humongously due to their sheer stupidity. They get hardly any ad revenue from showing football unlike cricket where there is a break after every 4-5 minutes while in football it is only after 45 minutes. Banner ads don't generate enough revenue.
Further trp of these foreign leagues is negligible to be the main driver behind distribution revenues. So it is more like charity these broadcasters are doing by showing these matches to us as they are losing 80-90% of the monies they are paying for it as rights fees. That's why Star has pulled out of showing La Liga, Serie A and FA Cup from this season and even Fifa World Cup they didn't bid last time around. Bundesliga global rights has been acquired by Fox so it is more an in house property where they can pay whatever they want. EPL their contract ends next season and it will be interesting to see if they bid aggressively for it later this year for the next 3 years rights.
Star wants to promote ISL, PKL, HIL which they hope will become marquee properties and generate advertising as well as distribution revenues for them. Even the trp for pkl is showing that year on year and isl generates much higher trp than any of the European leagues.
So viewers like us should be happy that these games are on tv and since most of the games will be online, we can view them there also. Issue with Sony will be during IPL season in April and May and hopefully they will have additional channel by that time for sure.

Sony should launch a new HD channel before laliga kicks off! Else the can't broadcast laliga serieA Fa cup simultaneously. In that case I would say it was better to be with star as far as laliga is concerned. So MSM need to launch a HD channel and at least a SD channel to telecast all live matches at least in sd in horizon.
Much better coverage of La Liga and Serie A by Sony network.
Like international counterparts bein sports and supersport etc, they are showing maximum matches live as should be the case.
