Now that Samsung’s finally determined the cause of the Galaxy Note 7 fires, it’s being reported that it will hold off on unveiling the Galaxy S8 at MWC. Instead, it’s believed that it’ll launch the handset at a dedicated event in New York in April. The firm has allegedly made this decision so it can work with external agencies to execute plans to recover confidence from consumers before releasing a new product on the market.

It’s worth noting, however, that Samsung hasn’t officially announced its plans to take the wraps of the Galaxy S8 in New York. This news comes courtesy of participants at the global strategy meeting the firm is currently holding at it’s headquarters in South Korea. In line with what we’ve previously heard, Koh Dong-jin also used the conference as an opportunity to stress the importance of tightening security and minimizing the risk of leaks ahead of the release of its next flagship.

Samsung may unveil the Galaxy S8 at a dedicated event in New York in April - SamMobile

Sam is in deep trouble in due to its recent exploding models. All the best with the new models. But Sam should remember Nokia is coming back in 2017 to conquer  its first place which was lost to Sam. In my opinion many of the buyers now paused their new buying to see Nokia. (I my self postponed my buying of One Plus3t)

There's no doubt that Samsung's next focus will be its upcoming flagship smartphone after untimely demise of the Galaxy Note 7. Now, new details have emerged around Samsung's rumoured next flagship believed to be called the Galaxy S8. Samsung is said to have postponed the launch of the Galaxy S8 to gain confidence from consumers before making it available in markets worldwide. Previously, it was reported that Samsung Galaxy S8 flagship smartphone will be unveiled at the side-lines of MWC 2017 in Barcelona on February 26. Other reports tip pricing and feature details.

A report claims that Samsung will hold a dedicated event in April and before the event, the South Korean company will work with several external agencies to re-gain confidence from consumers. The report mentions that the external agencies have been asked to come up with comprehensive plans ahead of the release of the Galaxy S8.

A separate report has claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S8 may be priced higher than the current Galaxy S7 series. The Korean report cites financial firm, Goldman Sachs, which predicts that the Galaxy S8 will see a rise in prices by up to 15 to 20 percent compared to its predecessor. According to the financial firm, the price rise will be due to rise in cost of raw material and this will eventually trickle down to consumers.

Another report has claimed that Samsung may place the fingerprint scanner at the back. There have been recent reports suggesting that Samsung may integrate an optical fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy S8 which will boast off high-res scanning through 1mm of glass with button-free design. The report however contradicts earlier rumours that Samsung may ditch the home button and claims that the home button will be present but not feature a fingerprint scanner.

There have been reports that suggest Samsung may be the next company that will ditch 3.5mm audio jack on smartphones. An earlier report claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will only come with a USB Type-C port, and come with a 3.5mm-headphone-to-USB Type-C adapter.

Not every phone gonna be Note 7. S8 will be next version of S series. They already ditched Note series because of the incident.

To recover losses incurred due to Note 7,
They have to do this.

And
It's premium category,
Rich people will look at brand not at price :shy

People who love latest greatest technology will always choose Samsung.

Samsung has been testing Android 7.0 Nougat beta builds for its Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones. One of the software features as a part of TouchWiz UI is the dedicated modes for games and high-performance. But it looks like Samsung wants to take this to the next level. The Korean giant has filed a trademark for ‘Beast Mode’ in the European Union.

Spotted by Dutch publication GalaxyClub , the trademark application does not include any detailed description. So, it’s hard to tell what ‘Beast Mode’ refers to. But judging by its name, it could have to do something with high-performance mode. Virtual Reality (VR) is the latest craze and it does need all the power for smooth functioning, and Beast Mode could be dedicated mode for VR content. It is rumored that Samsung may skip the usual February-March timeframe, and launch the Galaxy S8 at a special event in New York, sometime in April. But there is no official confirmation of the same.

Samsung Galaxy S8 specifications

After the unfortunate debacle of the Galaxy Note 7 , there’s a lot riding on the Galaxy S8 . Samsung not only needs to win customers back, but also come out with an excellent product that is far superior than the competition, just like the Galaxy S7 . Rumors claim that the upcoming Galaxy S8 smartphone will do away with the flat screen model, and will only be launched in dual-edge curved screen variant. It could be offered in two screen sizes — 5.7-inch and 6.2-inch, with QHD resolution. Reports also indicate that it will be an all-screen display, just like we saw on the Xiaomi Mi MIX concept phone.

At the heart of the Galaxy S8 could be Qualcomm’s recently announced Snapdragon 835 SoC based on 10nm process for the US variant, and Exynos 8895 for other regions. Paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 128GB and 256GB onboard storage options are expected.

In the camera department, the Galaxy S8 could feature a dual rear camera setup and a seflie camera up front with auto-focus. The dual-camera setup could take an advantage of Snapdragon’s clear sight technology to capture better photos. It is likely to feature a 16-megapixel camera with RGB (color) sensor and 8-megapixel camera with a monochrome sensor, both homegrown and engineered by SEMCO.

The Galaxy S8 is also rumored to include an optical fingerprint scanner, an iris scanner just like the Galaxy Note 7, water and dust resistance capabilities, wireless fast charging and more. It could house a 4,200mAh battery to keep things ticking. On the software front, it could boot Android Nougat 7.1.1 out-of-the-box.
