Samsung has chosen to publish details and images of the Galaxy SIV Active handset ahead of its launch event on June 20.

The latest edition to the growing Galaxy SIV range, the SIV Active, can be submerged in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes without any ill effects and is also dust-resistant, making it the ideal beach-side digital companion.

It also has a 5-inch full HD display, a quad-core processor, an 8-megapixel rear-facing and 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

Rather than building it to survive a trip to the coast, the SIV Active appears to have been built to thrive on holiday. Its screen sensor array means that the display can be operated with gloved hands while there is also a special aqua mode setting for the camera to guarantee the best underwater photography. It even features a barometer.

The phone will come with Android version 4.2.2 out of the box and supports 4G LTE for superfast mobile internet. The company is yet to confirm pricing or availability but is expected to do so at the handset's official launch event in London later this month.
