will they provide on "first register-first serve" basis..?
They said earlier that they can manufacture 10 lakhs mobiles per month..
If so, how long it take to issue mobiles to 7 crore registers?

The office of Ringing Bells –manufacturing company of India's cheapest smartphone Freedom 251 was found closed on Wednesday, fueling a lot of speculations on the genuinity of its business.

As per a Times of India report, the office was found shut yesterday its president Ashok Chadha told that "all is well".
He told TOI, "We are very much in business, and are not running away". Apparently, the office was closed yesterday owing to some rental issues.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday questioned Mohit Goel, CEO of Ringing Bells over the pricing of the phone.

Notably, the smartphone was launched last month with a jaw-dropping price of Rs 251 only which raised several questions on the company's business model.
ED started enquiry into the matter, suspecting that the company might run away with customers' money that it has recieved as payment from online booking of the phone.
As the makers of the smartphone went gaga over being part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s "Make in India" and "Digital India" initiatives in last few days, a top government official clarified on Thursday that the government has nothing to do with "Freedom 251" smartphone.

Meanwhile, Ringing Bells has promised to return money to 30,000 customers who pre-booked the device on the first day of the sale. The company said that the refund will reach their accounts any time this week.

Freedom 251 ‘prototype maker’ calls it scam, threatens legal action

Domestic electronics brand Adcom today lashed out at Ringing Bells-- the company claiming to make the world's cheapest smartphone-- by calling it 'the biggest scam of the millennium'. Amidst a lot of fanfare, Noida-based startup Ringing Bells announced in February to make Freedom 251 smartphone for Rs 251, less than $4.

A lot of controversies soon surrounded the startup with the smartphone industry unanimously declaring that the Freedom 251 is impossible and is just a publicity gimmick.

While the company is still to start production of Freedom 251 smartphone units, the company handed over the review units to select journalists just before the launch.

Shortly after, it was discovered that the Freedom 251 is actually Adcom Ikon 4. Ringing Bells had simply concealed Adcom's branding on the review devices with white ink and two layers of plastic screen guards. Also, on the back of the device, it had covered Adcom's branding with a sticker of the Indian flag, suggesting it is linked to government's Make In India programme.

In its defence, Ringing Bells justified its actions by calling it a prototype device and claimed that the final Freedom 251 version would be similar.

Taking offence, Sanjeev Bhatia, founder and chairman, Advantage Computers (ADCOM) said, "To clear the air around, I would like to underline few facts pertaining to case, as this scam exhibits the potential of maligning our brand name ADCOM which is our trademark since 2001. It is true that, although we sold the handsets to Ringing Bells earlier, like we sell ADCOM mobiles to lakhs of users, we were absolutely unaware of the reselling plans of the company in question."

Commenting on the pricing of Freedom 251, Bhatia said, "We still haven't been able to evaluate their pricing policy, as we sold the handsets at Rs 3,600 per unit. We are deeply grieved by this incident where our mobile phone has been presented to masses for Rs 251."

Hinting at possible action against Ringing Bells, he added, "We would not hesitate from taking any legal actions against the company, in case the entire fiasco impacts ADCOM's brand name or subsequently we face any other kind of losses. We would also like to assert that ADCOM is in no way connected or linked with Ringing Bells or Freedom 251 and bears no responsibility whatsoever, in the whole swindle and regret the inconvenience caused to our valued customers from all over the country."

Freedom 251 ‘prototype maker’ calls it scam, threatens legal action - Times of India

Noida-based Ringing Bells may have been given all sorts of labels, but it sure doesn’t seem to be ready to quit. The maker of the Freedom 251 smartphone, is under trouble from all quarters, but it is still defiant about delivering the world’s cheapest smartphone. Ringing Bells is now promising to deliver the Rs 251 smartphone by June 30 via cash on delivery.

Ringing Bells put up a post on its Facebook page saying, “Today is a historic day. We have sent out the confirmation SMS/E-mail to the people who will be receiving the Freedom251 phones by June 30 through Cash on Delivery. Kindly like the post and comment here as and when you receive the SMS/E-mail.”

Quite a few users have commented on the post confirming that they have indeed received a SMS from the company with the order number and delivery promised by June 30. That said, there are a few users who have commented saying that they haven’t received any SMS or email despite having booked on freedom251.com .

Ringing Bells created quite a buzz since it announced the Freedom 251 smartphone. But from showing an Adcom-branded smartphone at the launch event, to claiming it is a part of government’s Make in India initiative , there have been controversies aplenty. The company’s claim to deliver a 3G smartphone at Rs 251 sounds too good to be true, and it is currently being investigated by the Income Tax Department , Department of Electronics and IT , Enforcement Directorate (ED) , and the Noida Police among others.

Amid all the controversies, Ringing Bells maintains that there is nothing shady about its operations and it is ready to co-operate with all investigations. In fact, the company has said that it plans to import 50 lakh units of the smartphone, and make Rs 31 profit on each of them.

The Ringing Bells Freedom 251 is now set to be delivered by June end. We will wait to see if the Noida-based company stays true to its word.
