But they don't need to subside cost when existing customer case is happy with their 2G handset. Also budget 4G handset like Jio Phone are glitchy piece of garbage. A good handset from Nokia would have cost 3-4k. So now should they subsidize 4G handset for negative ARPU?
Who is say Jio phone is garbage? It was far better than 2g handset. Our watchman using whatsapp & youtube on it. He was totally satisfied.

Because I bought one. It's button wear out, phone and charger heats up. And the software crashes very often. So yeah.

What is the gain for running 2g ?
I don’ttrust the avoid theory that they still have not recovered 2g cost.
Secondly , 40 crores 2g customers of avoid are not getting special rates or discounted voice tariffs.
2g users will upgrade to 4g handsets once 2g is closed.
Avoid can protect its 2g customer base by providing subsidise 4g handsets & plans
Avoid needs to reduce network cost . Close down 2g/3g & come at equal platform to compete against Jio.
IUC is not to recover the initial investment of legacy operators in setting up of 2G network. IUC is paid to the recipient network because legacy 2G networks use a circuit switch infrastructure which actually costs the 2G network a charge for getting the call to terminate on its network which the calling operator is needed to compensate it for. With an all IP network like Jio, there is no such infrastructure and voice is just carried on the existing 4G data network. So IUC will remain till a significant chunk of subscribers is on 2G network.

I am saying Jio Phone is garbage. Your watchman could have purchased Redmi Go or any other Refurbished phone at lower price instead and enjoyed real smartphone experience without pain of button problems, software issues, and most importantly stuck to just one operator.

Yeah, there was mandatory recharge of ₹153 for next three years which they removed January 2018 realising how unethical it was.

... dont u think that avoid will always want those 2G subscribers to remain on 2G only ....If they partner with any mobile company to launch 4G feature phone just like jio phone... then they can also migreat 2G subscribers to 4G network....
just bcz They could not upgrade their infrastructure till now ..then why Should jio pay IUC for their fault... Before JIO all were making Good money they have gained huge profits n money from last 15 years frm Common man.. So its not like AVOID was in ANY loss before JIO...but now just bcz They are loosing their old Subscribers to JIO in Big numbers .They started making hue And cry N doing "HUNGAMA" ..N behaving as If they are vry innocent .. who have never ever cared for their customers before jio..
