Rediff.com, one of the country's oldest online businesses, may be scoping the market for possible buyers, said two people with direct knowledge of the matter.

Rediff chief executive officer Ajit Balakrishnan denied this.

Negotiations are at an advanced stage with at least one of the buyers, said the people cited above. The second person said the asking price was excessive.

The company could have been hawked to Amazon, Flipkart, GoDaddy and Infibeam, said the people cited above.

One of my most used sites in the early and middle 2000s. I used to use it for news and rediffmail. Never bought anything from there though
