Railways Launches India’s First 1600 HHP Solar DEMU Train. Solar Power DEMU Train to Save 21,000 Litres of Diesel, Rs 12 Lac Per Year. DEMU Train with Solar Powered Coaches and Special Battery Bank for use during night hours. Train has Solar hotel load system fitted on each coach is of 4.5 KWp capacity consisting of 16 Solar Panels of 300Wp. Train with prototype solar based hotel load system has been manufactured by ICF,Chennai & fitted with Solar panels by IROAF. Solar DEMU first rake has been commissioned and based at Shakurbasti DEMU shed of Northern Railway.
