Pokémon GO mania has taken over the world. Now, Apple has said the mobile game has broken a record on App Store, when it comes to number of downloads. According to Polygon, Apple has confirmed the Pokémon GO app, in its first week, was downloaded more than any other app in the history. Apple, however, did not give the specific number of downlaods.

Pokémon GO was released on July 5, and has gained huge popularity worldwide in a very short time. According to a recent report, Pokémon GO app is now being used more than Facebook on a daily basis. In the first week, Pokémon GO users spent 75 minutes per day playing; as opposed to only 35 minutes on the Facebook app.

A SimilarWeb report had earlier revealed Pokémon GO players spent more time on the games, as compared to well-established apps like WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger. Interestingly, both WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger boast of 1 billion monthly active users.

According to analysts, Apple can make close to $3 billion in revenue from the Pokémon GO craze as users will buy “PokéCoins” from its app store. A pack of 100 PokéCoins is available for 99 cents on Apple App Store. Bigger packs cost more. Pokémon GO was also declared the biggest mobile game in US history during the first week of launch, according to data from SurveyMonkey.

Pokémon GO, the augmented reality, has taken the world by storm. The mobile game in the US has more daily active users than CandyCrush Saga did in 2013. It crossed crossed 20 million daily active users in just a couple of days since launch.
