David Warner equals Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI record in Adelaide match versus Pakistan
Sachin Tendulkar, in his memorable career that spanned over two decades, has achieved numbers which are difficult to catch with and has set many records in the history of cricket. Although many of these records are set to stand for some while, one man from whom it is expected to at least break some of the them is India skipper Virat Kohli, but this time it was David Warner who levelled Tendulkar’s unique record.
Australia opener David Warner who came out to bat in the fifth ODI against Pakistan smashed the bowlers of visiting team, all around the Adelaide Oval, to help his side to a massive total of 369. In the process, he set a record-breaking opening partnership of 284 runs with Travis Head and matched one of the ‘Little Master’s’ unique records of most 150-plus scores in ODIs.
David Warner has equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most 150-plus scores in ODIs, scoring a career-best 179(128) in the final ODI against Pakistan at Adelaide on Thursday.
Warner and Tendulkar both are now tied at five 150-plus scores in ODIs. This was Warner’s third consecutive century and the third instance of him scoring a hat-trick of centuries.
Before his latest match which was played against Pakistan, Warner scored 3767 in 92 ODI’s with a strike rate of 95.46 and an average of 43.29. Now he has 13 centuries and 16 half-centuries in his kitty. Sachin scored 18426 runs in the 463 ODI’s that he played with an average of 44.83 and the strike rate of 86.23.
While, Sachin had scored his five 150s against four oppositions – New Zealand (2), Namibia, Australia, South Africa, Warner’s five 150s came against five different oppositions – Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, New Zealand, South Africa, and Pakistan, which is itself a unique thing.
