Just a day ahead of their playoff
fixture against Islamabad United,
Karachi Kings' Shoaib Malik has
relinquished his captaincy, making way
for Ravi Bopara to take up the mantle
for the remainder of the season.
"For the rest of season, I have spoken
to the management. I believe I am not
able to concentrate on my game and
end of the day it is impacting my team.
That's why I have decided that I will
step down as captain for the rest of
the matches. A big thank you to the
management. A big thank you to Ravi
Bopara for accepting it and promising
to do what's best for the team," Malik
said in a press conference in Dubai on
Friday (February 19).
The Karachi franchise lost their last
must-win group-stage fixture against
Peshawar Zalmi but progressed to the
playoffs after Lahore Qalandar failed
to secure a win against Islamabad
