PSL T20, Match 2: Karachi Kings vs Lahore Qalandars – Players to watch out for
Inaugural edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) got underway on Thursday with an eight-wicket win for Quetta Gladiators over Islamabad United in Dubai.
21-year old left-arm spinning all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz was star of the tournament opener with figures of 4 for 13 on a slow, turning pitch.
In Match 2 of the PSL, Karachi Kings will battle it out against Lahore Qalandars at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
As two heavyweights of the tournament take to the field, here are two players from each side that we think will have a big impact in this Friday clash.
Karachi Kings
Mohammid Amir: After a disappointing T20I campaign against New Zealand, the pacer hit form in the ODIs with five wickets in two outings. The PSL offers Amir the perfect platform to find his groove ahead of the Asia Cup and WorldT20.
Tillakaratne Dilshan: Though he failed to fire on the recent New Zealand tour, the explosive Sri Lankan batsman can dismantle any bowling opposition when he gets going. The all-rounder is great fielder and often chips in with crucial wickets with his off-spin.
Lahore Qalandars
Chris Gayle: The Jamaican beast signed off from the Big Bash League with a record-equaling fastest fifty in T20 cricket. In a format that dicatates inconsistency, the left-hander continues to defy cricketing logic with his consistent brutal hitting.
Azhar Ali: The Pakistan and Qalandar's skipper is yet to make his T20I debut. Not known has a power hitter, the right-hander has all the requisite qualities to succeed in this format. The PSL can help him make inroads into his country's T20 set up.
