After facing the brunt with the curtailment of the India-South Africa series, Ten Sports has got some relief. Holding the rights to South Africa cricket, the sportscaster will get to show a new series which was not originally part of the international calendar. Cricket South Africa (CSA) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have announced a 3-match ODI and a 2-match T20 series between the two countries which will take place in South Africa later this month. The series was arranged following the shortened tour by India to South Africa. The new tour will help CSA plug to a small extent the revenue shortfall from broadcast rights said to be around $20 million. India goes to South Africa for two test matches and three ODIs next month. Initially, it was supposed to have been three Tests, seven ODIs and two T20s. But the BCCI decided to invite West Indies for a home series that starts tomorrow in Kolkata. CSA CEO Haroon Lorgat said, “This is certainly fantastic news for the Proteas and our fans. With the Indian tour having unfortunately been curtailed, we needed to give our fans the opportunity to see the Proteas in action, and I’m delighted that Pakistan accepted our offer to tour here. “It’s not been an easy period for South African cricket, but I want to thank our fans and commercial partners for their patience and support during this time”. The Pakistan team is expected to arrive in South Africa on 18 November. The tour schedule and ticket details will be announced shortly. PCB chairman Najam Sethi said, “We are very happy to tour South Africa and to play against one of the best teams in the world. The tour will be beneficial to both our Boards and we are looking forward to build on our excellent relationship with Cricket South Africa.”
