ICC has just announced that the New playing conditions for Tests, ODIs and T20Is take effect from Tuesday 30 October from the Sri Lanka v New Zealand series

Some Important Changes:

  • Lunch and Tea intervals in Tests can now be of 30 minutes each subject to ICC approval, rather than 40 minutes and 20 minutes
  • Only two blocks of Powerplays in ODIs will apply with first one being mandatory for the first 10 overs
  • The second five-over batting Powerplay (in an uninterrupted innings) in an ODI will have to be completed by the 40th over
  • In the non-Powerplay overs, no more than four fielders will be permitted outside the 30-yard circle.
  • Teams can agree to play day/night Tests subject to deciding on brand, type and colour of ball
  • Decision Review System in LBWs has been given a change
  • A clause in the Appendix, which deals with No-balls in the Third Umpire TV Replay System, has been amended.
  • If a ball that has been hit by the batsman make contact with the Spydercam or its cable, it would be called a dead ball
  • New rules in determining the Over-rates for Tests, ODIs and T20Is
  • A bowler shall be limited to two fast short-pitched deliveries per over in ODIs
  • In T20s, In both innings of the one over per side eliminator, the fielding side shall choose from which end to bowl.
  • In T20s, additional allowance of one minute will be given for the fall of each of the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth wickets.
