Paid content of Hotstar and YouTube does use DRM. I specifically remember Voot not allowing us Redmi users to download videos offline due to unavailability of DRM support on our phones.

Don't know about paid YouTube content but Hotstar has L3 protection for premium content.

So that is why i couldn’t download Netflix,Amazon music on my rooted Android phone coz most probably It must have lost DRM.

I also use a rooted phone but there's no such problem for me

When i used that phone to download i used to get error that ur device is rooted. But no issue while streaming online

Then it's a ROM problem ask your ROM dev to fix the drm issue

Actually it was Uber’s Phone so They rooted in a way to stop other apps. Anyway I don’t have it right now

Who said prime video Android app doesn't support HD...you just need a Widevine L1 device

We have to do a seperate research before buying a smartphone for Widevine support for Apps but most of the budget segment smartphones some mid range & even some flagship phones doesnt have that Widevine L1 Support that's what I get from google but all the smartphone devices now supports HD content on Prime Video desktop site while watching via Google Chrome app.

Yeah only Nokia and Moto have L1 certification in budget devices
