Seeking Help My new Home Theatre Sony HT DAV-TZ140 doesnt have Optical IN port.

Also another annoying thing s if i play from USB in HT, 9 out of 10 videos doesn't play & saying video format not supported.
If am trying to plug USB from TV & play, the audio output s not satisfactory.
Literally it's a waste for me as of now.

Few years back, I had your similar situation.
My HT had Optical in & ARC, but TV didn't.
But I had no problem in getting sterio output from TV which I took from headfon out of tv (same pin of our mobile phone earphone)
But I was not able to get 5.1 out.
But later I purchased Android TV box which have optical out and upgraded my dish STB which have optical out.
But your case your HT itself doesn't have optical.

TV has hdmi Arc bro, Home theatre have Hdmi out. Both Hdmi out & Arc different from each other?
We take sound out from TV through Sterio out/Optical out/Audio-Video out (Red/white/yellow cable) etc...
If your TV & HT have ARC,
The same HDMI cable which you use to output HT to TV, the same HDMI cable will take in reverse Audio out from TV to HT
So you don't need separate audio cable which I mentioned above.
Depending on models ARC can give 5.1 out also.
Normally If the HDMI port support ARC it will be written there (I think it is written on your TV) But not sure in HT.
so you can search and confirm about your HT.
Note: ARC need hispeed HDMI 1.4 & above cable which support data transfer up & down (you can see it is written on the cable Ethernet, hi speed etc)

In tv only, Hdmi arc written bro, in HT its written as HDMI out alone, no ARC word found.

In HDMI cable it's written as high speed HDMI cable E252840 AWM style & temperature etc.

My question is if I connect HDMI ARC port from TV to HT HDMI out & with no connection between STB & HT, will it generate 5.1 surround audio output in TV channels or usage of Audio decoder is recommended?

Can you post back side picture of your HT?

Bro, u insert the HDMI cable with TV ARC port and your HT HDMI out. Then u go TV settings, select audio, the select the audio output as HDMI/speakers.if your TV Sony, it's easily link. Otherwise do some tricks. U try bro.

It won't work for him, his HT doesn't support ARC.

@deemah786 bro, unfortunately your model doesn't support any kind of 5.1 input. It's primary purpose is DVD playing and producing 5.1 sound from within. It won't double up as an amplifier. If your purpose is getting 5.1 audio from TV or STB, this model won't do it. Maximum it can do is accept 2.1 channel audio from TV or STB and probably do a lame upscaling. You can use it to get better bass and sound, but not as a proper surround sound solution!

@Siva bro. He had a HDMI out in HT. His TV also have ARC port. Then how bro. You remember my Sony HT RT 3. Now it work fine......
