Yes, a new motherboard will cost u hell.
If u have to go for new motherboard, I'd suggest going for DDR3 board with new RAM.
DDR3 RAM costs very cheap,within 1500 bucks for 4GB !

But if its not a motherbord porobs, why change it unnecessarily. better try out first, the simple things. if not work, then consult with at least 2 engineers before u do anything.
if u know how to assemble yourself, no need for engineers, i could get u good config details to update your PC

For me mother board , no problem.
Smps is only having problem. Just now checked.

@karthik : You can change the smps if you want... Take a 400 W - 450 W smps, since it will be able to take care of heavy power load on PC... and will be an add on for ur future upgrade..
