I want to know one thing. What was his full name ? Was it Muthuvel Karunanidhi or some thing else ? AFAIK South Indians have long names....Just a curiosity ......

His given name was Dakshinamoorthy.
He later changed his name as Karunanidhi. Muthuvel is patronymic name.
Kalaignar is pet name. Kalaignar means a man having knowledge in art/literature.
