Still works out to less than 235 a month for unlimited reliable fiber broadband and unlimited calling on landline. BSNL would charge that much for just a landline connection without broadband. And 10 Mbps is fine for personal usage, you can even stream 1080p videos without buffer, only 4K wouldn't work.

₹99 booking charger adjust with your connection during kyc. So you are basically paying ₹198 + 18% GST x 5 months = ₹1168.20 + ₹500 - ₹99 = ₹1569.20

₹590 extra for set top box and basic OTT and channels. Not bad of a deal. 10 Mbps much be sufficient to stream youtube and some live TV channels which we already do via our mobile's hotspot.

I think- Jio site is saying something other. I have to pay 5 months again after 5 months over, (Rs 1168.20/- again for 5 months including gst)

JioFiber (Postpaid) back-up plan is again listed on the Jio website. So it is again available now.

This particular plan was never removed. It's been there since inception. The 198*5 plan was removed long back. Recently, one of my relatives too bought the 398*5 pack.

No, 198 back-up plan is unavailable. You can still get internet-only plan for Rs. 399 with 30 Mbps speed.

Unfortunately, new connections 398 (backup plan) can not be downgraded to 198 plan. You'll have to pay 398 minimum to avail JioFiber.

I would suggest you to take normal 399 internet-only plan because it will not have STB attached and higher speed 30 Mbps.

In Airtel Fiber it is possible to detach DTH from the Stand-by plan due to their system loopholes. The same process is not applicable on JioFiber.
