According to highly placed sources, the official streaming partner for Tata IPL 2023 has raked in about Rs 2,300- 2,500 crore in advertising revenue. Industry insiders peg the television ad revenue to hover around Rs 1,800-2,000 crore.

The Viacom18 Sports CEO said IPL will continue to remain free because of the success the company has achieved this year. "We have had huge success this year, so there is no real reason for us to change our strategy," he said.

If they want to continue free IPL, then they can't breakeven of Rs.20k crores (digital cost of IPL) in 5 years as they have earned around 2k crores from ads in the 1st year.

Think big.

If this year they were able to attract peak concurrency of 32 Million viewers then next year x1.5 of that.

More Viewers = More Ad Impressions = More Ad Revenue

Viewers on Digital are increasing, but Advertisers are shrinking year by year.
