Even ulka and weconnect provides IPTV set top boxes. Airtel can't leave the prices down, prices shall be similar to DTH. This new service will not going to attract customers. People like me took DTH for better quality and service later switched back to digital cable tv since the quality is at par with DTH and price is lesser. Similar case will happen for Airtel IPTV also.
But Airtel gives Rs.350/- worth of pay channels bundled in Rs 699/- fiber plan, where as BSNL is not providing similar benefits.

Bsnl costs way less for same speeds. For example I use bsnl fiber which costs Rs. 530 including gst provides 50mbps and live tv. Airtel 699 plan excludes gst and only provide 40mbps and dth. I think if bsnl provides iptv without any issues then it will be good and bsnl tied up with local operators and their response is quick as I am using bsnl fiber for past 1 year and downtime is very less like may be few hours during last 1 year.

Only benefit of airtel iptv is for people living in apartments where installing dish is an issue. Other than that I don't see anything better compared to traditional dth.

They are focusing on airfiber , hence it is also requires dish like Outdoor unit. Hence not much difference.

Another benefit is Customise of HD channels in Airtel and expecting more 4K channels in iptv,.

Is BSNL providing OTTs (excluding iptv) with this 50mbps plan? Airtel’s 699 plan have Hotstar, Zee5, Sony Liv & Sun Nxt etc.

Agreed but fingers crossed as even for star 4k tata provides better bandwidth than airtel. As Tata play provides 18 mbps with 60 fps but airtel only 10 mbps with 50fps and it's same for airtel iptv also. And airtel iptv provides compressed channels compared to dth.

Any fps 50 or 60 is better than hotstar premium 4k streaming @ 25fps. Now Airtel iptv (2025) can provide uncompressed channels comparing to 2016 iptv due to current fiber speeds.
