Also part of the deal is Karnataka spinner J Suchith, who the Capitals have traded to Kings XI as part of the exchange for Ashwin. Suchith was signed as a replacement in IPL 2019 at his base price of INR 20 lakh. The IPL Governing Council will now have to ratify the trade to seal the deal.

The R Ashwin trade has finally happened with Kings XI Punjab closing a lucrative deal with Delhi Capitals on Thursday. ESPNcricinfo understands the trade is worth INR 7.6 crore (then US$ 1.176 million approx., his auction price in 2018) and an additional undisclosed sum to procure Ashwin.

I have no idea what either team is thinking.

KXIP are low on proper Indian players and they traded a premier Indian player.
Delhi Capitals already has plenty of spinners - Axar, Tewatia, Mishra, Lammichanne - they've added one more premier spinner now. Only dilutes all their opportunities too.

Would have made sense if KXIP picked a high class Indian player in return

"The Rajasthan Royals had earlier requested the BCCI to allow them to play some of their home matches in Guwahati, and the Committee of Administrators (CoA) had on 13 August approved their request," said Devajit Lon Saikia, Secretary of the Assam Cricket Association (ACA), as per a report in the Times of India. "The approval was placed and accepted in the IPL governing council, chaired by former India batsman Brijesh Patel, at the BCCI headquarters on Tuesday."

During this year's edition of the IPL, Assam's Riyan Parag performed well for the Royals. Saikia confirmed that the ACA has also approved the Royals' request to set up a cricket academy in the state. This will be the third Royals' cricket academy.
