RE: IPL 2015 - News & Updates (Auction Details Live Now)

Auctions so far :

The first set of bidding for marquee players is over now. Biggest news coming out of it is of course of Yuvraj Singh - sold for Rs 16 Crores to Delhi Daredevils. Dinesh Karthik was bought by RCB for Rs 10.5 Crores. Angelo Mathews too attracted a price of Rs 7.5 Crores.

Unsurprisingly it was Delhi who were the biggest bidders. They entered the auctions with the biggest purse and have spent quite a lot from it for Yuvraj and Mathews.

KKR never bid for any player in this set. Rajasthan and CSK bid but did not buy. Delhi and SRH bought 3 players each, MI, RCB and KXIP got one each. SRH have been the most impressive in the auctions so far. They got three big players - Kane Williamson, Kevin Pietersen and Eoin Morgan - for a combined price for just Rs 4.1 Crores.

PURSE LEFT:

CSK - Rs 4.8 Cr
DD - Rs 12.75 Cr
KXIP - Rs 9.6 Cr
KKR - Rs 13.2 Cr
MI - Rs 6.81 Cr
RR - Rs 12.75 Cr
RCB - Rs 10.3 Cr
SRH - Rs 16.95 Cr

Gary Kirsten, coach of Delhi Daredevils, chuckles when asked about the bidding war for Yuvraj Singh."Good for him," he says.

Kevin Pietersen has been bought as a batsman and not as a captain, says Tom Moody, coach of SRH

Eoin Morgan : Sold to SRH for Rs 1.5 Crores
Base price of Rs 1.5 Crore for the England skipper.

After a long while, SRH start the bidding. MI too seem interested in the left-hander but Eoin Morgan will join Kevin Pietersen at SRH this year.

Aaron Finch : Sold to MI for Rs 3.2 Crore
Base price of Rs 1 Crore for the Australian opener.

Mumbai Indians start the bid. Delhi join this bid as well. They have a lot of money to spend and need to build a good team. Bid stands at Rs 2.8 Crores with MI. Delhi need time to discuss and raise it to Rs 3 Crores. MI go up to Rs 3.2 Crore and bag him!

Amit Mishra : Sold to Delhi for Rs 3.5 Crores
Base price of Rs 1 Crore.

Bidding war starts between RR and MI. It's Ponting vs Dravid now leading the bidding for their respective franchises. And now VVS too enters the game for SRH. Mumbai Indians pull out of the race. Delhi join in as MI leave. SRH keep bidding. Bid is at Rs 3.5 Crores with Delhi and SOLD!

Dinesh Karthik : Sold to RCB for Rs 10.5 Crores
Base Price of Rs 2 Crores.

RCB and CSK fighting it out for DK. Delhi enter as CSK pull out. Remember Karthik was bought for Rs 12 Crores last year.

Intense bidding between RCB and DD. The bid rapidly moves up to Rs 9.5 Crore and is with RCB. Delhi pull out now and SRH enter bidding now. RCB appear very keen on DK as well. VVS Laxman, Tom Moody and Muralitharan are at the table for SRH.

Bid stands at Rs 10.5 Crores and with RCB. Moody discussing intently with VVS but sold to RCB!

Kevin Pietersen : Sold to SRH for Rs 2 Crores
Base Price of Rs 2 Crores.

SRH start bidding and bag the big fish just at his base price. Kane Williamson and KP now. SRH doing this well already.

Mahela Jayawardene : Unsold
Base price of Rs 1 Crore.

No bids for Mahela just like Sangakkara!

Kumar Sangakkara : Unsold
Base price or Rs 1 Crore. Just like Amla, Sangakkara too receives no bid. That's baffling!

Yuvraj Singh : Sold to Delhi for Rs 16 Crores
Base Price of Rs 2 Crores. He could be the biggest buy this season as well.

Rajasthan Royals opened up straightaway. Dravid is bidding for RR. KXIP fight it out with RR. Delhi Daredevils enter the bidding. Dravid vs Kirsten vs Preity Zinta for Yuvraj now. Ah, here come RCB as well. Bid passes Rs 7.5 Crores. Yuvraj will be the biggest buy so far.

Bidding only between Delhi and RCB right now. Rs 12 Crores. He went to RCB for Rs 14 Crores last year. The bid has reached the price and crossed it!

RCB seem very keen on Yuvraj after releasing him. Makes no sense! But Delhi are upping the ante. Bid stands at Rs 15 Crores right now with DD. Already the biggest bid in IPL auction history. RCB in deep discussion now. Goes up to Rs 16 Crores. Still with Delhi!

That's history now! Yuvraj Singh is the costliest buy in IPL auction history. Big buy that by Delhi.

Kane Williamson : Sold to SRH for Rs 60 Lakhs
Base Price of Rs 50 Lakhs.

SRH start the bidding. RCB bid for Williamson as well. This should be interesting. The New Zealand batsman has been one of the best in the world in international cricket recently.

Sold to SRH for Rs 60 Lakhs!

Angelo Mathews : Sold to Delhi Daredevils for Rs 7.5 Crores
Base price of Rs 1.5 Crores or Rs 150 Lakhs. Mumbai Indians start bidding. Delhi Daredevils, the franchise with the biggest purse in this auction, start bidding as well. Only MI and DD interested in Angelo so far. Ricky Ponting is at the MI table. RCB enter bidding as well now as MI pull out. Delhi seem keen on the Sri Lanka skipper. They need a captain. So that's understandable. Bid stands at Rs 7.5 Crores with Delhi Daredevils. SOLD!

Angelo is already a big buy in today's auctions and could be leading Delhi this year as well!

Murali Vijay : Sold to KXIP for Rs 300 Lakhs
Base price or Rs 50 Lakhs. CSK start bidding. KXIP enter the race. Between CSK and KXIP only. No one else in the race for now. RCB enter the fray as well. KXIP and RCB going at it now. Vijay Mallya and Brijesh Patel are at the RCB table even as another official consults someone on the phone. Bid stands at Rs 300 Lakhs now with KXIP. SOLD!

Vijay was with CSK and DD previously. Good buy for KXIP. He's been in good form for India in recent times.

Hashim Amla : Unsold

Base price or Rs 2 crores. Big news straight up. No bids for the South Africa Test skipper.

Start :

We are almost ready to kick off proceedings. Sundar Raman is welcoming the gathering. Richard Madley is the auctioneer again. The teams are all in place. 751 players registered for the auction and only half of them will be going under the hammer. The players unsold today will be available for replacement should there be any injuries. The first 18 sets will consist of capped players. No right to match card this time.

Stephen Fleming is the known face at the CSK table. Ranjib Biswal, IPL chairman, addresses the gathering now.

Players released : Teams release players before the IPL auction
Teams released some of their players ahead of the IPL auction. Delhi Daredevils revamped their entire squad by releasing 13 players. Here is a list of players released by the teams

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians did not get off to a good start in IPL 7 after losing the first five matches. However, they bounced back and won the last five but they were knocked out in the eliminator. They have released Michael Hussey and Praveen Kumar. Hussey had a poor run while Praveen featured in only a couple of matches. However, they have acquired R Vinay Kumar, Unmukt Chand and Parthiv Patel.
