The 2014 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held in South Africa or India. The tournament could be shifted to South Africa since the dates could clash with the elections scheduled. The window for the tournament is April 9 to June 3.

"As far as possible our interest is to hold the IPL in India. Then, probably, South Africa is the preferred venue at the moment. The second option is also there and the third option is also there," said Sanjay Patel, the BCCI secretary.

Officials from the IPL are expected to meet the Indian home ministry to discuss the dates and logistics. The tournament had previously been moved to South Africa in 2009 as well.

Ranjib Biswal, the IPL chairman confirmed the same after a governing council meeting.

"We will be speaking to the officials in the government of India and the home ministry," Biswal said. "We want to hold maximum number of matches in India and if we get the green signal (from the government), then probably the whole tournament can be played here."

The whole issue had been discussed with all the franchises and the squads were built with the knowledge of a possible change in conditions.

May be 50-50
Another Option is Srilanka besides South Africa

90 % chances that IPL will be in South AFRICA as a gift from BCCI for supporting them in ICC for new revenue shearing model. For same reason sri lanka 's chances are zero as they raised their voice against The Mighty BCCI.
