iphone-5-india.jpg

Apple's partners in India have confirmed that the iPhone 5 will be reaching the subcontintent's shores tomorrow, November 2nd. We'll likely hear an announcement from Apple shortly, possibly mentioning other countries to which the handset is also headed. Lack of compatible LTE networks notwithstanding, the starting prices for an upgrade will be 45,500 rupees ($850) for the 16GB variant, moving on to 52,500 rupees ($980) for 32GB, and 59,500 rupees ($1,110) for the 64GB model -- enough to buy a brand new 150cc motorbike in Mumbai.

iPhone 5 goes for sale in India today

Apple's India partners Redington have confirmed that the iPhone 5 will hit the Indian market today.

Redington has confirmed that the iPhone 5 will sell the devices at Rs. 45,500 for 16GB variant, Rs. 52,500 for 32GB and Rs. 59,500 for 64GB.

Apple iPhone 5 is operational with nano sim card only. This is the major concern for users looking for iPhone 5. However, the regular sim and the micro sim can be converted into a nano sim by cutting it down from the edges.

There is not much price difference between iPhone 5 and iPhone 4, but we’ll have to see can iOS beat the Android.

Apple’s iPhone 5 cleared for China market

Apple’s much talked about iPhone 5 is all set to be launched in December after getting go-ahead from Chinese regulators.

China's Telecommunications Equipment and Certification Center (TENAA) on Thursday gave iPhone models necessary network access licenses. The pictures of devices that looked like iPhone 5 appeared on TENAA's website on Thursday.

According to Computerworld, one of the approved devices has the model number "A1429" and is built for a WCDMA 3G network. It's expected to be sold for the mobile carrier China Unicom, which has 233 million mobile users.

The other version, with the model number "A1442" is built for a CDMA2000 3G network, and is most likely meant for China Telecom, which has 155 million mobile subscribers.

Apple's has previously said that its expects the iPhone 5 will go on sale in China sometime in December.

The chairman of China Unicom, the country's second-largest mobile carrier, said early this month that it expected to start selling the iPhone 5 this year as it aims for a major boost in 3G users to 100 million by the year-end, up from 67 million in the first nine months, Reuters reports.

Apple iPhone 5 makes quite entry into Chinese market

Three months after it was launched the much talked about Apple iPhone 5 finally made its entry into Chinese market. iPhone 5 is available in 47 countries, including the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the UK.

According to media reports, its officially launch was a low-key affair in China with people giving a lukewarm response to the latest iPhone version. During the releaseof the iPhone 4 long queues were seen at Apple's stores in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen.

There was so much of rush following the launch of the previous version early this year that Apple had to halt its sale because of the supply problems and the chaotic scenes, according to Reuters.

Reports also hint at the cool response from the Chinese customers as they feel that it lacks significant upgrades. The experts however feel that it could still become a hit.

Apple claim that iPhone 5 is the thinnest and lightest iPhone ever, completely redesigned to feature a stunning new 4-inch Retina display; an Apple-designed A6 chip for blazing fast performance; and ultrafast wireless all while delivering even better battery life.

iPhone 5 comes with iOS 6, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system with over 200 new features including: Shared Photo Streams, all-new Maps app, Passbook organization and even more Siri features and languages.

Apple sells two million iPhone 5 in China in opening weekend

Apple has just revealed that they sold over two million iPhone 5 in the first weekend in China, since it went on sale on December 14. This is pretty big news since analysts predicted a rather lukewarm response to Apple's latest smartphone in China.

gsmarena_001.jpg

To put this number in perspective, Apple sold over five million iPhone during the first weekend in September but that was in nine countries: US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the UK. In comparison, they now sold two million of them in China itself.
The iPhone 5 launch was also uneventful compared to the iPhone 4S launch in China earlier this year, where a massive crowd had gathered and situation quickly went from bad to worse. Apple reportedly has employed a new reservation program, where prospective buyers have to book the phone a day in advance and then collect it later at a stipulated time.
The iPhone 5 is expected to be available in over 100 countries by the end of December, making it the fastest iPhone rollout ever.
