Can i use gmail in firefox in Windows xp?

Firefox version 52 will be the last complete update for Windows XP and Windows Vista. Security updates will be released, but no new features.

In approximately March, 2017, Windows XP and Vista users will automatically be moved to the Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR).

Firefox is one of the few browsers that continues to support Windows XP and Vista, and we expect to continue to provide security updates for users until September 2017. Users do not need to take additional action to receive those updates. In mid-2017, user numbers on Windows XP and Vista will be reassessed and a final support end date will be announced.

Chrome 56 for Android Brings New Download Features, Stability Fixes, and More

Google, shortly after rolling out Chrome 56 for Windows, Mac, and Linux, has now started rolling out the version to Android users. Chrome 56 (version 56.0.2924.87) for Android has been released and will be available to download (and update) via Google Play "over the course of the next week." Chrome 56 for iOS was also released alongside.

The new Chrome version for Android focuses on performance and stability fixes while also comes with new features. The Chrome 56 will now let you tap on emails, addresses, and phone numbers in webpages. The new version also brings easy access features for downloaded files and will also let user's access webpages from the new tab page. Another feature that is focused on new tab page is it allows downloading article suggestions on long press.

The latest version of Chrome for Android also brings changes to page reload behaviour which is claimed to produce reloads that are 28 percent faster. Google stresses that despite being a relatively minor change, the new behaviour makes reloads faster and consume less bandwidth and power. Chrome 56 also brings support for Web Bluetooth which allows developers to connect with Bluetooth devices such as printers or LED displays.

9to5google points out few more changes in Chrome 56 for Android including a new offline viewing feature that allows accessing the saved pages. Notably, the 'Touch to Search' has also received visual tweak that can now offer access to search page as its own tab.

Last week, Google rolled out Chrome 56 for Windows, Mac, and Linux adding features like labelling certain HTTP websites as non-secure and setting HTML5 as the default over Flash for all users.

Google Chrome to Soon Integrate Progressive Web Apps Deeply Into Android

Google updated its Chrome browser with the ability to pin shortcuts to users' preferred sites directly to the home screen back in 2015 but the search giant is now planning to make these Web apps more integrated with Android than ever before.

Google has announced that in "next few weeks" it will be releasing a new version of this feature, starting first with Chrome 57 beta.

With the new version, once users add a Progressive Web App to their home screen, they will appear in the app drawer section of the launcher and in the Android Settings, and will also be able to receive incoming intents from other apps, Google said in a Chromium blog post. Further, the search giant says that a long press on the notifications from these apps will show "normal Android notification management controls" rather than the controls for Chrome.

The Web apps currently don't show up in the same manner as installed native apps and Google says that developers have asked for their apps to show up in app drawer section of the launcher. "These differences can be confusing for users and prevent the experience from feeling as cohesive as it could," it added.

The new Add to Home Screen option will help transition the gap between native apps and Web apps, the company said in its blog, adding that similar functionality will be available from other browsers too, "This new Add to Home screen feature is one more step in our journey to empower developers to build the best possible experience for their users, and we are committed to ensuring the same mechanisms for installing Progressive Web Apps are available to all browsers on Android."

Notably, this new feature will be applicable only for Progressive Web Apps, which are required to follow certain guidelines. In the description for this particular type of apps, Google says, "Progressive Web Apps are installable and live on the users' home screen, without the need for an app store. They offer an immersive full screen experience with help from a web app manifest file and can even re-engage users with web push notifications."
In order to try the new feature, users will have to install Chrome Canary from Google Play and then open "chrome://flags" inside it, as pointed out in a report by AndroidPolice. Then they have to select Find in page option from the Chrome menu and search for #enable-improved-a2hs . Then users need to switch the option to Enabled , and restart their browser.

Opera 43 with instant page loading, Profile Guided Optimization released

Coming weeks after its announcement of the new Neon browser, Opera on Tuesday released a new version of its original browser with instant page loading and Profile Guided Optimization (PGO) on board. The company claimed the new features were aimed at just making the browser “super-fast” as web content is getting heavier and heavier while users want the pages to load faster and faster.

“Web browsers need to evolve faster in order to keep up with people’s expectations,” says Krystian Kolondra, Head of Opera for computers. “Last year, we sped up the Opera browser with features like native ad-blocking, page-load speed optimization, and faster start-up. Now, with instant page loading, we are giving it another boost that will squeeze loading time almost to zero.”

Among the new features is instant page loading, a mechanism wherein the Opera browser predicts which website you are typing the address for and begins loading it in the background before you hit enter. This new feature, Opera claimed, becomes smarter over time by learning which URL inputs led to a specific website.

“For example, if you type nyt.com on multiple occasions, it will learn from this and begin loading the New York Times in the background. In addition, when you search for something in the address bar, it will load the results likely to be clicked in the background,” a release said.

Opera claims the new version brings 13 per cent faster startup time compared to the last version, while the browser engine has also got a performance boost. The company claimed this is now possible with Profile Guided Optimization (PGO), a Visual Studio compiler feature able to make software running on Windows significantly faster. This helps Opera run compiled data faster by selecting a number of important scenarios and teaches the compiler which code is important.
