Discovery Communications India’s sports channel DSport has acquired the broadcast rights of ‘Indo International Premier Kabaddi League’, which has been launched by the New Kabaddi Federation of India (NKFI). DSport will broadcast all 62 games live.

The league will showcase a distinct format, having 8 teams with 62 matches spread over one and half month’s period. Each team will have 3-4 foreign players from across the world.

Its a good move by them acquiring content which no channels wanted and which almost nobody watches. Meanwhile they still didn't buy the rights to Ring of Honor's pay per views. Watching ROH's tv without the ppvs is like watching first half of the movie and skipping the end.

If Disney will acquire these Nimbus Communications (Neo Prime, Neo Sports), it will be a part of 21Century Fox under Star Sports Network, this is not right decision. If comptitiors are not available in market, when Monopoly develops. Nimbus should be interested in indian sports.

The first edition of the Indo International Premier Kabaddi League (IPKL) will be broadcast on Discovery India’s DSport (English) and Viacom18’s MTV, MTV HD+ (Hindi) besides DD Sport ( Hindi) as well as several regional networks from 8-10 pm.
Eight teams are in place namely the Bangalore Rhinos, the Chennai Challengers, Diler Delhi, Telegu Bulls, Pune Pride, Haryana Heroes, Mumbai Che Raje and Rajasthan Rajputs. Each team will comprise of marquee players and will include five raiders, seven defenders and three all-rounders besides two foreign signings. One coach and physio will also be assigned to the teams.
