Haha what a joke . Obviously one series doesnt decide good or bad player but he is "33" years old not some newcomer like Vijay shankar or khaleel . The way he played 2nd odi clearly showed his impatience . Today not even newcomers play shots like that . And india dont have time for experiment before WC .i am pretty sure he will be warming up on bench in NZ series also.

Do you think rayadu will get chance over Karthik ?? Doest matter if karthik score 10 / 20 runs in next 10 matches before WC , he still be part of the WC team .

Dhoni said after winning 3ed ODI that is is ready to play on any number position. I guess selectors will settle him on 4th position
Beside that we can get 6th bowling option like kedar jadhav , so door for rayadu is pretty much closed.

Having said that am not against Karthik, i just feel Rayudu holds an edge against Karthik at the moment.

In 50's scored alone Karthik just equals Rayudu having played almost doubled the odis as Rayudu. Average, SR, 100's scored in all things Rayudu edges out karthik.

I d be very happy if Karthik play some good knocks & earn a spot in the playing 11 ahead of Rayudu.
Definitely if he scores 10/20 in the next 10 matches, even a 10 year old kid knows he ll never board that flight to England. Then how come you expect the panel of selectors to select him.

15 member squad only bro, mentioned 1 out of all the last 3 slots. I just feel 12 slots sealed, for the rest of the 3 slots these names maybe considered, discussed & given chance in the remaining Odi's before world cup. I feel the following 3 are the front runners for the 3 positions.

Dk isnt 20 years old thats why he played mature inning of 24 in 14 balls (2nd ODI) unlike immature minnow basher rayadu who was just throwing wicket.

Just tell me how many times rayadu saved india like DK did ?? Forget that if he is better than DK then why he was playing like 20 year old newcomer in 2nd odi ???

I mentioned rayadus age because of his immature inning in 2nd odi where he tried to throw wicket and finally got succeeded . At any point did you feel rayadu is settled batsman in 2nd odi ??? When did you see such shot selection by DK ??

Moral of the story : we dont want players like rayadu who in 2nd odi was just feeling some pressure and immediately throwed wicket . On the other had we want players like DK who keep kalm even after pressure is high . Like he did in nidhahas trophy final , 3rd t20 partnership with krunal pandya , 2nd odi partnership with dhoni and so on

AFAIK IPL is the only domestic tounament of India where top class International players play with our domestic players. So if someone cannot perform in IPL in front of international players that too in Indian condition how can you be sure that the same player will perform against same international oppsition players in foreign condition when he plays for India ?

You can't judge any player with just 36 BALLS bowled in 18 matches. Check his 50 over bowling stats (list A). Economy rate of less than 5, 43 wickets in 50 innings isn't that bad for a non-regular pacer.

That 36 balls he bowled in front of top class int players in real pressure where as in 50 overs of list A there was not a single int player against whom he bowled. Now pls don't say our list A batsman are also as good as Kane williamson/FAF/smith/ABD/waner so bowling infront of those list A is same as bowling infront of these guys

By that logic, if someone isn't performing in IPL, and performing in domestic or List A cricket, they should never be picked. Think what you are saying! BTW, he did play against New Zealand A internationally. Read the below.

Again, I'm not supporting Shankar, and I had the same question as to why he was picked. But as some of our members including @Endgame bro pointed out, we have not many options when it comes to decent pace bowling all rounders.
