India have offered to host the World T20 next year if Bangladesh is unable to get the venues ready by the deadline set by the ICC, stated Jagmohan Dalmiya, the interim president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Bangladesh though seem confident of meeting the December deadline, quoted a BCB official to the Hindustan Times.

"Four venues -- Cox's Bazar, Chittagong, Mirpur and Sylhet -- are doubtful for next year's World T20. We have given a guarantee that we will be on stand-bye if the venues aren't complete by December," said Dalmiya.

The BCB official said Chittagong and Mirpur were ready but accepted that Cox's Bazar and Sylhet were not. "However, our government has given a guarantee to the ICC that both will be ready by December," the official said. An inspection from the ICC is expected in September. The 2014 World T20 is scheduled to take place between the 16th of March and the 6th of April. India is already hosting the World T20 in 2016.

India is ready to accommodate a few matches to help Bangladesh host next year’s ICC World T20 in time, said the interim president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India Jagmohan Dalmiya.

“If Bangladesh is not able to meet the deadline for getting the four venues ready — Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, Mirpur and Chittagong — ready by August then we are there to help them by giving them some stand-bye venues,” Mr. Dalmiya said here on Thursday after returning from the annual conference of the International Cricket Council in London. He said that two new venues – Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet – may not be able to meet the deadline and in that case India is ready to host some matches of the upcoming tournament.

“We look at this situation with sympathy and are not rejoicing at their problem. We can definitely stand for our neighbour if we are given advance information for any support needed,” he said.

Looking ahead to India hosting a series of top cricket tournaments in the next 10 years, Mr. Dalmiya said it was good news for Indian cricket.
