South Africa chase ODI whitewash and No. 1 ranking
With the series win already in the bag, South Africa begin their push for a 5-0 whitewash and the No. 1 ODI ranking in Tuesday's (February 7) fourth one-day international against Sri Lanka. Given how one-sided and predictable the first three games of the series have been, any deviation from the current trend would come as a huge surprise.

Tahir reaches top spot in ODI rankings

Imran Tahir, the South African legspinner, jumped two places to reach the top spot in the ICC One-Day Internationals (ODI) Rankings after picking up 10 scalps in the recently-concluded five-match series against Sri Lanka. He earned 49 points to hop over Trent Boult and Sunil Narine in the rankings. Tahir also continues to remain the top bowler in the Twenty20 International Rankings.

Tahir's South African teammate Faf du Plessis, who amassed 410 runs - which included two centuries and a fifty - also made a giant leap in the rankings for batsmen, entering the top-five for the first time in his career. He jumped seven spots and moved to No. 4, ahead of fifth-placed Quinton de Kock and seventh-placed Hashim Amla.

David Warner holds on to his top spot among batsmen in ODIs, followed by South African skipper AB de Villiers and Indian captain Virat Kohli.

All-rounders Wayne Parnell and Chris Morris are the other players from the series to make impressive gains in the latest rankings. Parnell, who was the leading wicket-taker with 11 scalps, jumped 16 places in rankings to move to the 28th spot, alongside New Zealand's Tim Southee. Morris, on the other hand, vaulted 70 places to 51st position after claiming eight wickets in the series.

Sri Lanka, who were whitewashed in the series against South Africa, didn't have too many pleasant takeaways. Wicketkeeper-batsman Niroshan d*ckwella, however, was an exception. He rocketed 65 places to 62nd position in the batting table.

Mitchell Santner was the most notable mover in the recent rankings from the recently-concluded three-match Chappell-Hadlee Trophy. The left-arm spinner achieved a career-best 23rd spot after rising 11 places in the bowler's rankings.

Other batsmen to rise in the latest rankings are David Miller in 26th (up by eight places), Travis Head in 36th (up by two places) and Farhaan Behardien in 45th (up by two places), while bowlers to head in the right direction are Kagiso Rabada in seventh (up by one place) and Pat Cummins in 25th (up by two places).

Shakib Al Hasan continues to be the top-ranked all-rounder in ODIs, followed by Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi and Sri Lanka's Angelo Mathews.
