Is it me or someone else can also clearly see that Hotstar are just doing upscaled 4k for ICC events. The IPL and other stuff which are under their production are true 4k. The quality difference is clearly there. Also I believe ICC itself are not producing in 4k.

A proper 1080p 50fps is 12mbps. Prime lowered the bitrate this year, in 2024 it was 12bmps. Sky Cricket are doing 1080p50f in 10-11 mbps.

this is actually an okay bitrate for 4k 25f. Ideally for this quality, it should be 14mbps. Sky sports UHD which is 50fps. is around 18mbps. The reason the stream is looking so bad is that this guys upscaled the 1080p. The true 4k of IPL looks pretty good at same bitrate (12). Pretty dumb company. they could have just provided 1080p50f instead of crappy 4k25f for ICC events. Sky Cricket FHD is too better than this 4k stream. with lower bitrate.

Yes they should first provide 1080p at 50fps then only after that talk about 4k.

Because on mobile full hd @25 fps is 2.1mbps bitrate which is very poor and its

Exactly. It was clearly the upscaled streaming during the men's t20 wc 2024. But I can clearly see the improved quality of 4k streaming during women's t20 wc. Not sure whether it's an native 4k, but it was way better than men's t20 wc. Right now, once again it's an upscaled one for champions trophy.

During the India tour of new zealand in 2022, the quality was best in prime in mobile. But when I streaming recently, I can clearly see the streaming was pixilated in mobile and TV as well.
