Huawei has now announced its VR headset called Huawei VR. Huawei VR, works on similar lines as Samsung Gear VR, where one needs to slide a smartphone in VR headset to view the immersive content.

Huawei VR is compatible with company’s recently launched flagships P9, P9 Plus and also the Mate 8. According to a report in Engadget , Huawei claims to offer the first of its kind 360- degree sound field, which can experienced through headphones.

The smartphones, compatible with Huawei VR, however feature a 1080p screen resolution, as opposed to QHD display in Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. This raises questions on the quality of immersive content viewed using the Huawei device.

Huawei VR will offer more than 4,000 free movies and over 40 games at the launch,
reports Engadget. It will also offer over 350 panoramic images and close to 150 panoramic tours, the report adds. Huawei has not made any official announcements on the price and availability of the device.
