I have subscribed Hotstar for IPL streaming on Mi TV. In case hotstar has issues, I have a backup app to watch SkySports feed but I dont think the app is genuine
The fact is all the individual bids like Sony for Indian TV rights and Facebook for digital rights and other overseas rights are little less than Star's Consolidated bid. Any other who could won the bid would have done the same.
Definitely Pirated, for a reason that Rights holder from a particular region won't allow others to stream same content available to outsiders, that too for free, sky sports has no reason to stream in India when STAR/Sony has blocked rights here.
Not really as star has resold digital right to yuptv for some countries. So it may happen that star again resell to some other streaming app for some other countries

Respective apps are definitely legal in respective countries but only for that particular region, e.g. SkySports has rights for UK, so its feeds in India, or any other region other than UK, through any app or website, is a pirated feed.
