I've been using Amazon Firestick for past 2 years and I can see that it has become very slow in terms of responsiveness and launching apps. I checked the space availability and it hovers around 1.5Gb at any given time. Is everyone else facing this issue or it's just me?

Background:
I'm using the Jio fiber 30days trial and my parents are now used to Hotstar VIP subscription as they can watch all their soap operas starting 6AM everyday. I'm not planning to continue Jio post trial period. Currently Firestick is connected to my Home theater. So I thought of moving the FTv stick to TV so my parents can continue watching Hotstar serials, without turning on HT. Since FTv stick has become slow (compared to Jio STB) they're finding it hard to operate it.

Note: I own a 10 year old Samsung HD LCD TV.

Well after reading feedbacks is it worthy to buy ?A gadget has to work perfectly atleast for 3 years @the price of 3-4 K investment...
Just a thought..
Agreed. There is no problem with the device as such. However the lag spoils the user experience and it is much evident when we go back to FTv after using say Jio DTH or Airtel Xtreme Box.
Not sure if it is because of softwares updates provided by Amazon, making it slow, thereby forcing people to upgrade to latest version.

I see many people using Gen 1 or 2 are facing this performance issue. Not sure if Gen3 users would've used long enough to report on the performance drop.
While tackling this perf issue something just popped-up. Has anyone thought of flashing native android OS to FTv stick rather than continuing with Amazon's OS or heard\read of something like that?

So what's banefit of getting firestick? It only has few streaming app that's it.
Why it becomes slow on time.
