DoT suggests cutting GST on telecom services to 12%: Manoj Sinha - ET Telecom

The Telecom Department has suggested the Finance Ministry that GST for telecom services be lowered to 12 per cent against the existing 18 per cent, Parliament was informed today.

The recommendation was made during the process of the Budget exercise, and the matter is with the Department of Revenue under Ministry of Finance for necessary action, Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.

Was hoping this would be done soon. If its done DTH and cable networks will too be under 12% tax rate.

Another thing i am confident is that Petrol and Diesel will be brought under GST soon.
 
GST Council will reduce tax rates for 80 more items, and bring real estate under GST from 1st April.

Union Budget will be good this time, and Fuel may come under GST in next 6 months.

If that happens and if Fuel rates actually gets less. BJP can even win 350+ seats

It's not about politics always, It's about economy also, you need to spend thousand of crore to give salary, infra, defence, healthcare, social development and interest of loan taken from international organisation. Who will fund those if tax gets 1/3 on fuel ?
