Google Hangouts updates

That's a different news. This is totally free calls to US and Canada not one minute. That too it's introduced in India only now. I wasn't able to make free calls earlier.

In order to make free calls to US and Canada from India, one needs to download and install the app called "Hangouts Dialer". This will add another tab to hangouts app as shown below. This app was made available only yesterday in India. Earlier it was showing "This item isn't available in your country". Hope this helps.

I tried and it was working. But unfortunately, the call wasn't pick up and reached voice email.

For international calling viber is best.

You can't call phone numbers with Viber for free.

Yes. Viber is best. But the recipient should also have Viber. But here, you can call any phone (even a land line).
