That happens in weddings , new year celebrations as well . As far as hypocrisy is concerned then I think there's no point of swording with each other. Festivals are celebrated to spend time with the family. It's just that methods of celebration are different. Probably we should respect and celebrate each other's festival instead of yelling at each other just to prove " this is good that is bad " ...
Festivals and weddings can be celebrated without fireworks. So can be New Year. One doesn't justify others. I don't see a plastic Christmas tree harming anyone. These are re-used like a plastic bag. You can use it as long as you one. Unless, there is a damage to it which doesn't easily happen. Also it's not my festival vs your festival. Diwali is much as my festival as Christmas. I try to celebrate both safely without harming anyone.
