Revealed: Facebook's internal rulebook on s#x, terrorism and violence
Facebook’s secret rules and guidelines for deciding what its 2 billion users can post on the site are revealed for the first time in a Guardian investigation that will fuel the global debate about the role and ethics of the social media giant.
The Guardian has seen more than 100 internal training manuals, spreadsheets and flowcharts that give unprecedented insight into the blueprints Facebook has used to moderate issues such as violence, hate speech, terrorism, p**nography, racism and self-harm.

There are even guidelines on match-fixing and cannibalism

The Guardian has seen documents supplied to Facebook moderators within the last year. The files tell them:
Remarks such as “Someone shoot Trump” should be deleted
Videos of violent deaths  while marked as disturbing, do not always have to be deleted
Some photos of non-sexual physical abuse and bullying of children do not have to be deleted or “actioned” unless there is a sadistic or celebratory element.
Photos of animal abuse can be shared
All “handmade” art showing n*d*ty and sexual activity is allowed
Videos of abortions are allowed
Facebook will allow people to livestream attempts to self-harm
Anyone with more than 100,000 followers on a social media platform is designated as a public figure  :skd

How Facebook flouts Holocaust denial laws except where it fears being sued
Facebook’s policies on Holocaust denial will come under fresh scrutiny following the leak of documents that show moderators are being told not to remove this content in most of the countries where it is illegal.
The files explain that moderators should take down Holocaust denial material in only four of the 14 countries where it is outlawed, if reported.
One document says the company “does not welcome local law that stands as an obstacle to an open and connected world” and will only consider blocking or hiding Holocaust denial messages and photographs if “we face the risk of getting blocked in a country or a legal risk”.

Exclusive: Facebook signs BuzzFeed, Vox, others for original video shows - sources

(Reuters) - Facebook Inc (FB.O) has signed deals with millennial-focused news and entertainment creators Vox Media, BuzzFeed, ATTN, Group Nine Media and others to make shows for its upcoming video service, which will feature long and short-form content with ad breaks, according to several sources familiar with the situation.

Facebook is planning two tiers of video entertainment: scripted shows with episodes lasting 20 to 30 minutes, which it will own; and shorter scripted and unscripted shows with episodes lasting about 5 to 10 minutes, which Facebook will not own, according to the sources.

All of the sources asked to remain anonymous because the deals are confidential.

Facebook's move to acquire and license original content is the latest in its push to attract more advertising dollars, putting the company in head-to-head competition with Alphabet Inc's (GOOGL.O) YouTube Red, Snapchat's (SNAP.N) Discover feature, and traditional television networks.

It is an attempt to deliver on Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg's remarks to investors earlier this month that the company was looking for so-called “anchor content” that would draw people to the video tab on Facebook's app.

How Facebook praises and pressures a country’s leader to get exactly what it wants
The Irish Independent has published correspondence between Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg and Irish prime minister Enda Kenny, obtained through a freedom of information law request. Facebook’s European headquarters are in Dublin, Ireland.
The emails from 2014 reveal how Sandberg uses both praise and the prospect of Facebook changing its investment strategy in Europe to personally lobby the Irish leader. They provide a rare window into how one of the world’s most powerful technology companies conducts its business. Facebook did not respond to a request for comment from Quartz.

Using Data to Help Communities Recover and Rebuild | Facebook Newsroom

Today, we are introducing disaster maps that use aggregated, de-identified Facebook data to help organizations address the critical gap in information they often face when responding to natural disasters. Many of these organizations worked with us to identify what data would be most helpful and how it could be put to action in the moments following a disaster.
