In Caribbean too .. Only works in India , Bangla , pak , SL pitches ..

Of late,it has become a trend for people to criticize Ashwin and other Indian Players saying Home Track Bully,Flat Track Bully, etc.

Bro,despite taking two Five wicket hauls with an average of 23.17 and strike rate of 46.23 in 4 test matches you say his bowling doesn't work in West Indies.

In South Africa he has played only one test match and in NZ he hasn't even played a Test match.Even in England and Australia he has played only a few test matches, the sample size is far too low to conclude that he is a failure overseas.

It is unfair to expect a spin bowler overseas to run through opposition, especially when he comes to bowling after the opposition has scored plenty. It is pace bowlers duty to pick up wickets overseas where as the spin bowlers do more of a holding role.

The spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan, the highest wicket taker in the history of test cricket has a very poor bowling average and strike rate of 75.41 and 131 respectively in Australia

@dthnewuser -- Itz not a trend to criticize .. What i may get by telling all this to our own player :huh .. Mistake should be point out so that he may try to rectify it instead of praising .. You didnt point out means he cant become a gud bowler in future itz a fact .. I am also fan of ashwin like u but for that i cant agree his bowling works in all pitches of cricket playing nations he is a limited bowler .. You can see that in upcoming foreign tour's next year .. Then rest upto you bro ..

Stats highlights for India's innings victory in Mumbai:

17 India are now unbeaten in 17 Test matches. Their last defeat came against Sri Lanka in Galle in August 2015. They have equaled their record for the longest run without a Test defeat. They enjoyed a similar run between September 1985 and March 1987.

5 This is India's fifth series win in a row, a streak that started with the 2-1 win in Sri Lanka last year. They beat South Africa 3-0 at home, West Indies 2-0 away and New Zealand 3-0 at home before this series win. This is their joint-longest stretch of series wins. They also won five in a row between October 2008 and January 2010.

3 This was the third instance of a team losing by an innings margin after posting 400 or more in the first innings of a Test. The previous instances were England to Australia at the Oval in 1930 and Sri Lanka to England in Cardiff in 2011 .

8 Test wins for India in the calendar year 2016, from 11 matches - the joint-most they've won in any year. They also won eight out of the 14 Tests they played in 2010. Kohli's eight wins in 2016 is the most for an Indian captain in a year bettering the seven wins for MS Dhoni in 2010.

24 Test wins against England in 116 attempts - the joint-most wins for India against an opposition. They also have 24 wins against Australia in 90 Tests.

21 Defeats for England in 58 Tests under Alastair Cook. It is the joint-most for an England captain alongside Michael Atherton, who lost 21 out of his 54 Tests as captain.

4 Keaton Jennings became the fourth England payer to score a century on debut and end up on the losing side. The others to face the ignominy are KS Ranjitsinhji , George Gunnand Frank Hayes .

24 five-fers by Ashwin in 43 games is the third most for an Indian bowler in Tests. He now only trails Anil Kumble (35 in 132 Tests) and Harbhajan Singh (25 in 103 Tests).

12 for 167 by Ashwin in the Test is the second-best match figures at the Wankhede after the 13 for 106 by Ian Botham in 1980. It is also the second-best match figures for India against England after the 12 for 108 by Vinoo Mankad in India's inaugural Test win in Chennai in 1952 .

19 Wickets taken by Indian spinners in this Test. Only once have Indian spinners have taken all 20 English wickets to fall in a match - in Chennai in 1973 . There have been two previous instances of 19 wickets each in Kolkata in 1972 and Bangalore in 1977 .

16 Tests played by Ravindra Jadeja in India without tasting a Test defeat. He equaled Rajesh Chauhan's record of 16 Tests in India undefeated. It is the joint fourth-most for any player in home Tests. Mudassar Nazar (35), Sarfraz Nawaz (27) and Mike Brearley (21) are the others above Jadeja in the list.

Chennai Test pitch and outfield unaffected by cyclone: TNCA

The fifth and final Test between India and England at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will commence as per schedule on Friday (December 16), despite the havoc created by Cyclone Vardah in several parts of the city.

Cyclone Vardah induced torrential rains which led to speculations that there might be a change in venue for the last Test of the India-England series. The authorities of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), however, dismissed rumours and are hopeful of smooth conduct of the game.

"The assuring part is that the pitch and the outfield has not been affected by the cyclone. But sight screen has been damaged. The bulbs have blown off, air conditioners damaged," Kashi Viswanthan, TNCA secretary, told PTI on Tuesday (December 13).

While acknowledging the challenges that lie ahead of the game, Viswanathan also added: "There have been hundreds of tree trunks lying on the road leading up to the stadium. Our challenge is to set everything in order in the next two days. I am confident we will be able to set everything right."

IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla, has also voiced similar views. Speaking to ANI on Monday, he mentioned: "The fifth Test will take place in Chennai. Tamil Nadu Sports Authority is keen on hosting it. No changes as of now."

India have already won the series 3-0 with a game to go. The weather for the game is expected to stay clear with a few scattered showers expected to arrive on Day 4 of the game.

India vs England: Groundsmen use burning coal to dry Chepauk pitch for 5th Test

The groundstaff at the Chepauk were on Wednesday seen using burning coal to dry the pitch set to be used for the fifth and final cricket Test between India and England starting December 16.

Cyclone ‘Vardah’ that lashed the city last Monday caused considerable damage to property and the iconic stadium has also not been spared. However the square and the outfield have not been damaged. But the downpour has certainly left a lot of dampness on the 22-yard strip.

That is the reason why the age-old formula of keeping burning coal trays on pitches is being used. It is a tried and tested formula to soak the dampness and try to make it as dry as possible with less than 48 hours left for the Test match to start.

BCCI’s south zone curator PR Viswanathan is satisfied with the current condition of the pitch.
“The wickets prepared for the match and the outfield are in excellent condition. It should play true but I cannot say as to how the wicket would behave,” Viswanathan said.

TNCA secretary Kashi Viswanathan is supervising the arrangement as the association is working on a warfooting to get things in order. The veteran official is confident that everything will be in order before the first delivery is bowled.

He said:”It was bad yesterday and day before but with the progress of the work to resolve everything get them in its place has been very encouraging. Our staff getting the sightscreens in condition. Work towards this is almost over and we are confident about the scheduled start of the match.”

The TNCA secretary said that due to a better drainage system, the outfield will not remain soggy.

“One good thing is the drainage system at the stadium which is very good. It is unfortunate that the practice pitches on the other side of the pavilion could not be readied as it was totally wet. Thus the rival team members can only have fielding sessions tomorrow morning. We are sorry about that.”

He also informed that the damaged air conditioners and one of the stadium gate are being repaired.
