Some Zee5 regional shows got rave reviews though. Like in Kollywood, everyone wants to make something like Vilangu or Ayali. It's a huge hit here in Tamilnadu. Btw Hotstar get destroyed in all these press interviews for making sub standard content. They need to hire better producers to make regional content.

For now I think they should reduce the price. No one will pay 1499 for just ICC World Cup and Premier League.
They are still losing while offering subscription at ₹1499. IMO at the current state they need to stay away from BCCI's offering until pricing of the rights is somewhat realistic. Likes of Sony and Amazon aren't fools to stay away from BCCI and IPL rights. Hotstar subscription was too cheap for whatever they offered. They were clueless from before. They thought they could retain customers without making profits which made them lose content. The expectation of Hotstar's viewers are way too much. They got pretty much everything for ₹999 for all these years.

Agree with everything. Ppl expect too much for 999/year but they're willing to shell out 400/month on DTH.

I don't really get the logic behind these. In this day and age, I consider internet is as much important as electricity to any person studying or working.

Hope no one bids for BCCI bilaterals and they're forced to reduce the base price of the tender.

Damn. Most of these titles are made in last few years for Disney+

So it seems nothing worked for the streaming service except Marvel and Star Wars.

Why?

That is a tax-writeoff... Basically, they are following the same thing that HBO Max did recently for many of the titles including the hit HBO ones like Westworld...

Essentially, Bob Iger's return as CEO means, Disney is going back to their previous, pre-covid principles like Quality more than Quantity.. They are reducing the number of Titles commissioned for Disney Streaming Services everywhere including India... But Hotstar Specials's have so much already in Production, so, I doubt if they will slow down anytime soon though.

On the other-hand, they had to bin some of those Disney+ originals like The Mysterious Benedict Society and all because of the false reporting done by Bob Chapek and Kareem Daniel which eventually lead to their firing.

Okay, but these are actually good quality shows.

Haven't watched it yet. Trailer looks it though.
I've watched it and yes it's filled with 18+ scenes. But it's a well made show, it's very raw and gory with bold language but that's what makes it even more authentic and relatable in the backdrop where it is set. Eagerly waiting for season 2.

It was actually Iger's idea. Most of these shows were developed during Iger's tenure and Chapek just followed the existing playbook.
