DHAKA: A masked gang wielding
machetes hacked a secular blogger
to death on Tuesday in northeastern
Bangladesh in the third such deadly
attack since the start of the year,
police said.
"Attackers wearing masks hacked
Ananta Bijoy Das with machetes in
Sylhet city at around 8.30am this
morning. We have learnt that he was
a writer," deputy commissioner of
Sylhet police Faisal Mahmud told
AFP.

NEW DELHI: The government may
have come around to the fact that
its big ticket reforms - the land
acquisition bill and the GST bill -
will not be passed this session but
it is confident of getting the two
legislations cleared in the monsoon
session of Parliament.
 
NEW DELHI: The Rajya Sabha on
Monday approved amendments to
the land boundary agreement bill,
which was ridden with some drafting
errors when passed by Parliament
last week. While clearing the
changes opposition asked the
government to avoid such mistakes
in future.
The Constitution (119th Amendment)
Bill to allow the operationalization of
the 1974 India-Bangladesh Land
Boundary agreement was cleared by
both the Houses unanimously last
week. When the bill was introduced,
it was numbered as the 119th
Constitution Amendment Bill. When
it was passed, it became the
Constitution 100th Amendment Bill
as several constitution amendment
bills are introduced but the number
of those which clear Parliament is
less.
