NEW DELHI: Delhi Government has
cleared the proposal to revamp the
anti-corruption helpline which was
launched during AAP's earlier 49-day
stint. This time the helpline, to be
launched sometime later this month,
will come with a backing of a larger
support team and systems to ensure
accountability on response and
action on complaints.
The decision was taken in a cabinet
meeting on Tuesday. In his speech
from Ramlila Maidan on February 14
after he took oath, chief minister
Arvind Kejriwal had assured
Delhiites that soon an anti-
corruption helpline would be made
functional to trap government
employees across departments and
agencies who demand bribes.
"As per our promise, we have
decided to launch the anti-
corruption helpline after around 15
days. We appeal to people that if
anyone is asked to pay a bribe by
any official in Delhi, it should be
recorded and given to us. We will
take strict action," said deputy CM
Manish Sisodia.

CHENNAI: About seven years after a
public interest litigation challenged
the Centre's decision to accord
classical language status for
Kannada and Telugu languages,
which is still pending in the Madras
high court, a new PIL has been filed
in the court assailing the classical
language bid for Malayalam and
Odia.
Senior advocate R Gandhi, who filed
the earlier PILs, has filed the
present one as well, saying neither
Malayalam nor Odia fulfilled the
criteria laid down by the Centre.
The Union ministry of culture has
miserably failed to discuss the
correctness of the recommendation
and apply its mind to satisfy
whether the criteria laid down had
been fully satisfied by any language,
that it has a high antiquity and
recorded history for over a period of
1,500 to 2000 years, said Gandhi in
his PIL.

film had handled the issue
"responsibly".
Originally, the BBC had decided to
