If the local authorities are not allowing to have overhead cables in the city like on light poles etc then what option do wired operators have ?
Operators like Airtel and Jio wouldn't directly provide wired connections through overhead cables, they pay for right of way and lay the fibers underground.
Only LCOs provide through overhead cables coz they can't afford to pay the municipal corporation for right of way.

Opted for the base plan as of now that is prepaid ₹499 @40 mbps unlimited. Paid for 4 months for ₹2355 with free installation and hardware.
Is Airtel Airfiber have Rs.499/-(40mbps) plan? as website shows base plan is Rs.699/-

It’s been 12 hours since installation, but the service is not activated.

How long does it take for activation? I was told that by 10pm yesterday it would be activated.

Also I have not been provided with SSID and password

Generally doesn't take up much time. I'd suggest call up your installation guy, specifically the one who showed you the demo speeds on their smartphone and ask right away coz you are end user. Due to all this fiasco I will never ever go for airfiber.
