Bharti Airtel Wednesday launched a 10 GB data offer for Rs 259 for consumers buying a new 4G mobile device, offering data at effectively just over Rs 25 a GB to take on aggressive pricing from new entrant Reliance Jio Infocomm.
One GB data of it will be instantly credited to the customer’s account and the additional 9 GB data can be claimed by through the
MyAirtel app, India’s top telco in a statement said.
The latest offer allows subscribers to avail a maximum of three recharges within 90 days, according to India's No. 1 telco.
In August this year, Sunil Mittal-driven company introduced 10 GB 4G data offer at Rs 250 selectively only for the buyers of Samsung Galaxy J series smartphones.
The company followed it up by rolling out a similar offer at Rs 249 for Gujarat while launching 4G services initially in Ahmedabad. The special offer, which was introduced in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, has now been extended across India and is available across all brands of 4G handsets, the company added.
Arch rival and No 2 operator Vodafone India already slashed data price for its prepaid and postpaid customers to allow 10 GB at a cost of 1 GB for new 4G smartphone users in select metropolitan cities.
The move by operators come at close heels of Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Jio Infocomm’s telecom foray with cost-effective voice and data tariffs.
“This invitational offer has been designed for our data savvy customers who can now experience high speed broadband on Airtel’s 4G network with their new devices,” Ajai Puri, Director – Market Operations at Bharti Airtel said in the statement.
