@Sarkar
Ya but that whole series showed there inexperiance in cricket broadcasting.

If they win the rights then only consumers (viewers) will going to suffer as reliance doesn't have any sports channel whereas star and sony has several of them star & sony can broadcast in several languages as they have separate channels for Hindi, english & tamil.

But I don't think that reliance will start 3 sports channels just for cricket.

Winning bid does not mean you hv to hv a sports ch. They can again resale that. For example in 2008 for 10 year IPL right was won by world sports group who does not hv any presence in India but they resale that right to Sony

But then what will be the gain for viewers if reliance resale rights then this will only going to increase the cost of subscription & who will be the buyers from reliance either sony or star. So, why not star at first go.

Who cares as long as the firm which won the bid makes profit. Just look at how Jio born in 2010.

Infotel won 4G spectrum in 2010 at 12k crore and though they hv no experience in telecom and the very next moment RIL brought infotel at 5K crore and agree to pay 12k crore spectrum cost. So wining bid makes infotel rich by 5 k crore within few hours.

Now are we paying higher subscription because of 4G bid resale to Jio ? I am sure ans is No
