Battery doctor and other similar apps try to save battery by killing the running apps just like task killer apps. But this might impact the battery negatively if you don't white list the apps properly.
To explain further, once an app with a background service is killed, it'll restart by itself and this process will consume cpu, ram and in turn battery. Example for this type of apps is WhatsApp. To avoid this situation, only allow those apps to be killed that doesn't have a background service. Also, don't let the apps that you use frequently get killed as this will lead to similar situation. You can white list apps using the options with in battery doctor. A more reliable alternative is to use Greenify app which doesn't kill apps and instead hibernates them just like hibernation in windows.
