Anurag Thakur has been unanimously
elected as the new president of the
Board of Control for Cricket in India
(BCCI), the cricket governing body
tweeted after the special general
meeting in Mumbai on Sunday (May
22). His term continues until
September 2017.
Thakur, the former secretary, replaces
Shashank Manohar in the top job after
the latter stepped down earlier this
month and subsequently became
International Cricket Council's (ICC)
first independent chairman.

Thakur, 41, filed his nomination
paperwork on Saturday at the board's
Mumbai office and now becomes the
youngest ever to take over the
president's role.
The 34th president of the board,
Thakur nominated Ajay Shirke,
Maharashtra Cricket Association
president, as his secretary. Shirke,
former BCCI treasurer, quit his post in
2013 unhappy with the then
regiment's response to the IPL
corruption scandal. ----- http://m.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/80096
