I won't recommend ₹48/₹49 pack activation from Main Balance through app.
I have lost ₹48 in this way , trying to recover but that is not recommended at all.
Takes times reflecting on app. Try finding balance by *121#.

To be clear. I already posted proof of Airtel's validity extension. Here's same from Vodafone. As long as you recharge plan with a validity. You get access to uninterrupted service.

Meanwhile ₹48 plan is better than any smart plans as you get to carry forward the benefits to next month and so on. Why would a user want to lose anything? Do ₹48 recharge with FC10 code on FreeCharge every month. You get ₹10 cashback. Recharge same with ₹7.07 talktime. You get 3 gb data and ₹7.07 balance. Repeat same every 27th day. Best plan IMO for secondary sims.

Number retention techniques for Vodafone and Airtel with Incoming SMS facility (Vodafone only):
For Vodafone:
  • Recharge Rs 24 for 14 days
  • Make an outgoing call on 14th day (last day)
  • From 15th day to 104th day - No recharge (TRAI policy applies for 90 days retention). Yes, incoming calls also stop but I dont need it. For the entire duration of 90 days grace period, you will continue to get incoming SMS (OTP, etc.), valid for Vodafone users only.
  • 105th day: Rs 24 for 14 days again.
  • REPEAT the above procedure.
Vodafone Summary: So for Rs 24X3 recharges = Rs 72, you will get total 104 days X 3 = 312 days validity

For Airtel:

  • Recharge Rs 45 for 28 days.
  • Make an outgoing call on 28th day (last day)
  • From 29th day to 118th day - No recharge (TRAI policy applies for 90 days retention). Yes, incoming calls also stop but I dont need it. Note that Airtel blocks selective incoming SMS (like from Banks, etc.) but keeps sending their own promotional SMS.
  • 119th day: Rs 45 for 28 days again.
  • REPEAT the above procedure.
Airtel Summary: So for Rs 45X3 recharges = Rs 135, you will get total 118 days X 3 = 354 days validity
