All you wanted to know about AGR :

"The dispute between DoT and the mobile operators was mainly on the definition of AGR "adjusted gross revenue''. The DoT argued that AGR includes all revenues (before discounts) from both telecom and non-telecom services. The telecom companies claimed that AGR should comprise just the revenue accrued from core services and not dividend, interest income or profit on sale of any investment or fixed assets.
Supreme Court on October 24, 2019 upheld the definition of AGR as stipulated by the DoT.

Jio is the only telecom company to meet the Supreme Court’s deadline of January 23.
They had to paid only Rs 195 crore to the government.

Let's hope to see if sanity prevails over greed. Duopoly will be disasterous and it's pretty much obvious that Vodafone -Idea won't pay a penny if dues aren't reduced/ payments aren't made flexible and will declare bankruptcy. It will be pretty bad considering the exposure.

So they are pushing for almost 30 years now. Kick Vodafone-Idea out. They have no intention of paying the whole thing that they have owed for over a decade. We don't need them. Airtel, Vodafone and Idea were ALWAYS a cartel and had the same prices anyway. Indian telecom market will witness a couple of foreign players entry in the next decade either way.

The chameleon Matthews should be jailed.

If the govt decides on relief it should not be more than 3 years with over 10% additional interest per year.

British telecom major Vodafone on Wednesday said it has sought waiver of interest and penalty from statutory dues demand raised by the government from Vodafone Idea, and a time of 10 years to pay only the principal amount with a two-year moratorium..

Vodafone is staring at unpaid statutory dues of Rs 53,038 crore, including Rs 24,729 crore of spectrum dues and Rs 28,309 crore in licence fee, and has already warned of shutdown if no relief is given.

Have sought 10 years to pay AGR principal amount, says Vodafone CEO

Just shut them up. This is blackmail at this point.

The thing with waiving off penalties by the government is it will lead to a precedence and later-on when some other companies have such issues, they'll refer to as to why it was done to Vodafone and not for them. And then there is no end to that.

Vodafone is master in this play, they have always played around with law of land, they never paid liabilities arises due to Hutch aquisition and used all possible loopholes as well political & legal nexus,.

This time also they were expecting that threatening govt or court will work but eventually time has come to pay all dues

Airtel and Vodafone never even kept reserved fund to pay these dues for last 14 years, always kept fighting cases to avoid paying even minimum dues
