the govt doesn't have a problem in receiving the money over 20 years...this SC judgement is baffling. what happens next? packup VIL or govt will find another way ?

Supreme court has not commented on the timeline of the payment as of yet. That decision will be taken in the next hearing in April. It could agree to the 20 year proposal of Dot or may go for a shorter period of 5 or 10 years.
As of now all the SC has said is that the telcos self assessment holds no merit and that they will have to pay the complete dues including principal amount, interest on principal, the penalty amount and interest on penalty as had been calculated by DoT initially.
